HumanLayer ("we", "us", or "our") operates humanlayer.network, a proof-of-humanity identity protocol built on Base L2. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our services.
We collect the following information when you use HumanLayer: • Wallet address — your EVM-compatible wallet address used to create your soulbound identity • GitHub username — used to verify your identity as a real developer • On-chain activity — public blockchain data used to calculate your Human Score • Social platform handles — Farcaster FID, Lens handle, ENS name (only if you choose to connect them) • Discord and Telegram user IDs — only when you use our bots for server verification We do NOT collect biometric data, government IDs, passwords, or private keys.
We use the information we collect to: • Generate and maintain your Human Score (0–144) • Issue your soulbound identity NFT on Base L2 • Assign verification roles in Discord and Telegram servers • Calculate reputation boosts from connected platforms • Detect and prevent bot activity and Sybil attacks
Your wallet address, Human Score, tier, and connected platform handles are stored in our secure database hosted on Railway. On-chain data (your soulbound NFT) is permanently recorded on the Base L2 blockchain and cannot be deleted — this is by design for a proof-of-humanity system.
We do not sell your personal data. We share minimal data only in these cases: • With Discord/Telegram servers you choose to verify in — we share your verification status and tier • With blockchain networks — your wallet address and NFT are public on-chain • With third-party APIs you connect (Farcaster, Lens, ENS, Gitcoin) — only to fetch your public profile data
When you use our Discord or Telegram bots: • We receive your Discord User ID or Telegram User ID • We use this only to assign roles and confirm verification status • We do not store message content or monitor your activity in servers • Bot interactions are ephemeral — responses are only visible to you
You have the right to: • Request deletion of your off-chain data (wallet address, score, handles) by contacting us • Disconnect any connected social platform at any time • Note: on-chain data (your NFT) cannot be deleted as it is recorded on a public blockchain
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data. All API communications use HTTPS. We do not store private keys or seed phrases — your wallet remains in your control at all times.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on humanlayer.network. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
